If you missed the run on Kickstarter, you can now grab a copy of the new NES game Nebs n’ Debs created by Chris of Dullahan Software. I designed the packaging, manual, and label and it was a fantastic project to work on. I never thought I’d get to design the packaging for a Nintendo game in the 21st century! If you didn’t hold on to your game system, you can get a digital copy to play.
I developed the illustrations and color palette for this show last year while working on the new art for the New Conservatory Theatre Center in San Francisco. This year I applied the art to the marketing pieces to promote the show. I love how this turned out and had a blast designing it. The colors are so vivid and they match the high energy of the show. I created a whole series of promotional pieces including two posters, two postcards, digital ads and other print and web pieces. View more on my portfolio.
Go catch the show in San Francisco playing now through June 10th. Buy tickets here.
Happy Friday! I have a fun client project to share with you.
I designed this custom pattern for cookbook author Jenn de la Vega to promote her new book Showdown Comfort Food, Chili & BBQ: Bold Flavors from Wild Cooking Contests. She gave me a list of foods and items she wanted included (burger, tongs, spatula, garlic, bacon, etc.) and I used it to create this repeating pattern. It is currently available for sale on Spoonflower and will also be applied to a variety of goods.
Fun fact: Jenn and I met many years ago when we were both DJs and staff members at KDVS freeform radio in Davis, California. She now lives in Brooklyn, NY. It was wonderful working with her again (I also created this custom thank you card for her) and I love watching her food career soar.
Go buy her book, available now.
I designed a custom thank you card for my friend, chef extraordinaire, caterer, and cookbook author Jenn de la Vega who just released her first cookbook called Showdown Comfort Food, Chili & BBQ. It's available now, so pick it up on Amazon or your favorite local book seller. She wanted a card that matched the style of her book, so we worked together in creating this fun grilled steak illustration and design. We went through a couple variations before settling on this one. I had a blast working on it. I also created some patterns which I hope to share shortly!
Below are some early versions that weren't chosen, but show the process of this project.
Last month I did some work for the New Conservatory Theatre Center (NCTC) in San Francisco. I designed web graphics and print materials for their upcoming musical Avenue Q. One of the pieces I designed is an ad in the SF MUNI (San Francisco Municipal Railway—who by the way, have a fantastic logo.) It's pretty large in size, measuring roughly 5 feet by 4 feet.
While in San Francisco last weekend, I was able to see the ad in the subway. Please excuse the poor photo quality; the subway lighting is not too kind. If you're taking public transit in SF, keep an eye out for these fun ads and catch the musical which is playing December 2 through January 15 at NCTC.
